It reports that Catalonia wants films in Catalan and as Barcelona (the Catalan capital) is the second largest country in Spain, it’s possible that US films will soon be subtitled in Catalan.
Hollywood films are often dubbed in Spanish and sometimes they are dubbed in Catalan. If the film is dubbed in Catalan, the new Film in Catalonia bill would require 50% of their tax.
But the problem for Hollywood is that dubbing is more expensive than subtitling and the audience doesn’t like films with subtitles. If it’s in the country’s official language (Spanish) the film takes a better print average.

I feel strange when I watch a film in Catalan, but I suppose it’s because I’ve always watched them in Spanish. In my opinion, films would never have many success in Catalan because it’s a secondary language in Spain and it isn’t very “important” in the world.
