Well, as you know I’m Clàudia and I’m studying scientific batxillerat here in Castelló. I’d like to study medicine but as I really love animals if I should study for vet. Today I’ll show you some animals from other continents.
The first one is the jaguar: they live in South America and unlike many other cats they don’t avoid water. Humans hunt them for their attractive fur and they are endangered.
The next one is the squirrel monkey. They live in America too and they have some yellow in their extremities and the upper part of their head is hairy. I think it’s a very funny animal. They live together in groups up of 500 members.
That’s the alligator snapping turtle. They are considered the dinosaur of the turtle world. I think they are very ugly and when they are born they are carnivores but when they mature they become omnivores. As you can see, that’s a baby turtle and that’s only the size of their head bone when they are dead.
They red eye frog receive that name because red in their eyes. They are plenty of colours, as you can see they have green, orange, blue and some yellow striped zones. All that colours are their defence mechanism.
In Africa we’ve got the spring hare; it’s between a rabbit and a kangaroo. They have large back legs, so they can do gigantic leaps and humans hunt them for their fur.
That’s a warthog, they aren’t very beautiful and their big snout gives them a good sense of smelling. Pumba from The Lion king is a warthog.
That’s the bush baby. Their size is similar of a squirrel, and the formal name for that animal is galagos. Their mother carries them in her mouth or let them cling to her belly.
The sloth bear lives in Asia and is the only bear specie who carries their babies on their back.
The garial is a kind of crocodile. They live in Asia too and they have a very strange snout shape that changes with their ages. It’s a signal for females.
Well, all of you know about normal panda: white and black, but there’s another kind of panda, the red panda. They live in Asia and they have a false thumb that is an extension of their wrist bone.
The Tasmanian devil lives in Australia. As you know, in Australia the most successful group are the marsupials. You can think about kangaroos or koalas but there are other animals. I think they are very different so I don’t know why to this cartoon we say “the Tasmanian devil”. Tasmanian devils are carnivores and this year they have been declared endangered because humans hunt them because they were seen as a danger to livestock.
In Australia too, we’ve got the wallaby that it’s a marsupial, but it’s too little to be considered a kangaroo. Then, the last one is the wombat. They do approximately one metre and their move very slowly because their metabolism takes 14 days.Well, so I think you must be interested in animals and I hope you have enjoyed it and if you’ve got any questions I’ll try to answer it.
